Purcell and Kokkinakis claim ATP Challenger titles

Max Purcell has won the Chennai ATP CH100 after a tight battle against American Nicolas Moreno de Alboran in the Chennai Open final in India.

The 24-year-old Australian saved two match points in their epic 5-7, 7-6(2), 6-4 encounter.

It is Purcell’s third career ATP Challenger singles title – and first since July 2021.

Thanasi Kokkinakis had an easier time defeating Jordan wildcard Abedallah Shelbayh 6-1, 6-4 at the CH125 at Manama in Bahrain.

It is the fifth career ATP Challenger title for Kokkinakis – and his first won on hard court since October 2018. In 2022 the Adelaide player won his home ATP title when claiming the ATP250 event.

Kokkinakis jumps back in the top-100 after claiming his title.
