Muhammad completes the double-double in Canberra

Asia Muhammad from the USA has completed two weeks in Canberra where she has collected two singles titles and two doubles titles.

Asia Muhammad capped off a successful visit to Canberra where she claimed two doubles titles and two singles titles.

Last week she defeated Priscilla Hon to claim the singles title at the ITF W25 event. The day before Muhammad teamed up with Arina Rodionova to claim the doubles title.

Yesterday she again teamed up with Rodionova to defeat Jaimee Fourlis and Alison Bai in the doubles and today the doubles champions faced each other across the net.

In today’s singles final It was Muhammad that raced out of the blocks and won the first set 6-1 after breaking three times against Rodionova the no. 1 seed.

In the second set, it looked like more of the same before Rodionova mounted a fightback to take the set to a tiebreaker.

Both players broke twice in the second set.

In the tiebreaker, it went the distance with Muhammad winning 9-7 to secure another title.

Muhammad and Rodionova had a successful time together in 2017 when they won the Bendigo ITF 50k and Canberra ITF 60k tournaments.
