Yesterday against Britain’s Jack Pinnington Jones, James McCabe won the first set. The Australian then found himself down 5-2 in the second set, and looking likely to go to three sets.

McCabe would fight back and take that match in straight sets.
Today against Tomas Barrios Vera from Chile, McCabe easily took the first set, then in the second he was down 5-2. McCabe came back from that position yesterday, and again he fought back and won the match after taking the second set tie-breaker.

The final score was 6-1, 7-6(5).
McCabe will face Next Gen ATP Finals runnerup Alexander Blockx, after he took out the top seed Vit Kopriva. The Belgium player winning 7-5, 5-7, 6-4.

The other semifinal will see Spain’s Rafael Jodar against France’s Kyrian Jacquet.

Jodar defeated Japan’s Sho Shimabukuro in convincing style. The final score was 6-2, 6-4. It is now five wins in Canberra for Jodar after he got through qualifying.

Jacquet had a close match against Serbia’s Dusan Lajovic, he won 7-6(2), 7-5.
