Shnaider held serve and then broke to level the match at 3-3. In the 10th game it was a tough battle that saw Tomljanovic hold a game point before Shnaider broke to take the first set.
The first break of serve came in the fourth game with Shnaider breaking to love for a 3-1 lead. Another hold from the no. 12 seed and it was 1-4 with the Australian serving.
In game 7 it was the Australian that knew she had to fight hard to get back the break. Tomljanovic hit a backhand winner to get the first point. She would break to get back into the set, only to be broken again.
Shnaider was now serving at 5-3 for her place in the third round. The Australian would have two break points at 15-40 and would convert on the second to stay in the match.
A hold by Tomljanovic and it was 5-5. Shnaider would hold for 6-5 before again breaking her opponent to seal a win.

In the match of the day, it was Thanasi Kokkinakis facing Britain’s no. 15 seed Jack Draper.
