Boulter keeps on rolling into the Canberra International final

After Lesia Tsurenko withdrew ahead of her semifinal match against Britain’s Jodie Burrage, it was left to Katie Boulter to setup an all-British final.

Boulter did just that with another comfortable win, at least on the scoreboard, when she defeated USA’s Hailey Baptiste 6-2, 6-2.

The match was played in windy conditions which made it difficult at times.

The Brit is yet to drop a set this week and has only once looked in trouble of doing so. That came in the second set against Oksana Selekhmetev in a 6-0, 7-5 round two victory.

Boulter with a career-high of no. 82 will look to take her hot form into the upcoming tournaments, but she still has to take care of business in the final against Burrage.

“The goal for me is sustaining my level every single day. I feel like each day I’m coming out here and doing the same thing. That’s what I’m really proud of and no matter what happens on Saturday, it’s been a great week for me,” Boulter said.

“It’s not easy. For me physically it’s really tough. I’ve played some really good matches and I’ve been here a lot of the weeks on the tour but not week-in, week-out. I’ve been here the odd one here and there and it’s really important for me to get some consistency back,” she said.

Tsurenko withdrew or retired seven times in 2022, unfortunately she was forced to do that again in Canberra.

Jodie Burrage advanced to the final after Lesia Tsurenko withdrew.
