Workday Canberra International field

The player list has been released for the 2026 Workday Canberra International tennis tournament which ccommences on 5 January. Qualifying commences on 4 January.

Former world no. 4 Kei Nishikori is a name you would recognise, however he first has to navigate the qualifying tournament.

Another former top-10 player, David Goffin features in the draw. The Belgium played in Canberra back in 2024 when he was looking to rebuild his ranking. Goffin again finds himself in that situation as he is currently ranked at no. 119.

“I’m delighted to be heading back to Australia’s capital city for the Workday Canberra International,” Goffin said.

“I have fond memories from my last trip there in 2024 and I’m looking forward to kicking off my 2026 season in such a great city.”

The highest ranked player in the men’s field is world no. 101 Vit Kopriva of the Czech Republic followed by Italy’s Luca Nardi at no. 107.

Other notable players include Chile’s Nicholas Jarry who reached no. 16 in May, 2025, Sebastian Ofner and Yoshihito Nishioka.

The women’s field is headlined by Switzerland’s Simona Waltert at no. 87. Waltert reached the main draw of the 2025 Canberra International from qualifying and lost to eventual runnerup Wei Sijia of China in the quarters.

Waltert ended the year in good form after winning the WTA 125 title in Rio de Janeiro and the WTT W100 is Lisboa.

China’s Moyuka Uchijima is a former world no. 47 and comes to Canberra ranked at no. 94.

Polina Kudermetova from Uzbekistan started 2025 at no. 107 and had a dream start after reaching the final of the Brisbane tournament as a qualifier. Kudermetova lost the final to Aryna Sabalenka in three sets and jumped to no. 57.

Kudermetova struggled to find that early form for the rest of the year and now finds herself at no. 104 coming into the Canberra tournament.

The Workday Canberra International is often a tournament that uncovers talented players that go on to bigger things in the world of tennis.

Last year’s winner in the men’s tournament was Brazil’s Joao Fonseca, he now sits at no. 24 in the rankings.

2024 runnerup Jakup Mensik has risen to a career high no. 16 a well as claiming the 2025 ATP Masters 1000 event in Miami.
