Australia’s world no. 1 Ash Barty has had to come back from a set down and a break down in the third set to overcome Czech Karolina Pliskova in a quarterfinal match at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart, Germany.
Pliskova was well in control in the first set and took the set 6-2.
In the opening game of the second set Barty got the key break and then raced through that set 6-1.
In the third set it was Pliskova that was in control after having a break and reaching 5-4 with her serve to come.
The no. 6 seed wasn’t able to close out the match. Barty kept the pressure on and eventually broke back for 5-5.
Barty would serve to love to hold for 6-5 and then she closed out the match with another break of serve after converting on the second of her match points after a long rally that ended with Pliskova hitting well long.
