Max Purcell is off to the Olympics for the first time after Alex de Minaur was forced to withdraw after testing positive for COVID.
de Minaur was to play in the singles and doubles. Purcell will take his place alongside John Peers in the doubles.
World no. 41 doubles player, Purcell, had for many years teamed up with Luke Saville, the pairing were runners-up at the 2020 Australian Open.
Saville is also going to represent Australian at the Olympics. He is paired up with John Millman.
Nick Kyrgios is also missing from what was originally an 11 member team. The Canberran opted out.
