Going into the first Saturday of the Wimbledon tournament there were five Australians with a chance of advancing to the fourth round, by days end not one remained.
All but Matt Ebden lost in straight sets, it was not a good day for the Aussie contingent. Ash Barty and Nick Kyrgios were expected to advance but both were well off their best.
Ebden battled hard against Simon and looked set to take the match into a fifth set before his opponent lifted and closed it out in a fourth set tie-breaker.
