Nadal cruises into the Australian Open semis

January 22, 2019 by Rob Keating Leave a Comment

After not having played since the 2018 US Open Rafael Nadal has eased past USA’s Frances Tiafoe to book a semifinal showdown with NextGen star Stefanos Tsitsipas. The Spaniard won 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 in 1 hour 47 minutes.

Nadal was able to break four times from eight opportunities, Tiafoe had a swing at two breakpoints without being able to convert.

Tiafoe was always chasing his tail as the 17-time Grand Slam champion broke his opening service game in each set.

The last time Nadal reached the semifinals without dropping a set was back in 2009 when he won the title.
