The past week was an off week for the ATP tour as the Davis Cup qualification matches were played. Australia advanced to the finals in Madrid to be held in November. They defeated Bosnia and Herzegovina 4-0.
On the WTA tour, Daria Gavrilova’s poor start to the season continued after she lost in the first round to Russia’s Maria Sharapova at the St Peterburg Trophy Premier-level tournament.

Ajla Tomljanovic had a fantastic week in Thailand competing at the Toyota Thailand Open in Hua Hin. She reached the final without dropping a set but then lost a heartbreaking match in controversial circumstances.

Max Purcell reached the quarterfinals losing to Israel’s Dudi Sela 7-6(6), 7-5. Luke Saville reached the semis and lost to Lorenzo Giustino from Italy 7-6(5), 2-6, 7-5.
