Australia’s Marc Polmans claimed his first grand slam level singles victory after defeating Kazahstan’s Mikhail Kukushksin.

Polmans took a two sets to nil lead and then found himself at two sets all. Last year he looked on track to claim victory over Denis Kudla after taking the first two sets 7-5, 6-1 before going down in five.
It would have been devastating to have that happen again especially after holding match points in the fourth set.
Polmans would however triumph on this occasion after getting a late break in the deciding set to claim victory 6-4, 6-3, 4-6, 6-7(8), 6-4.
