Last week in Traralgon, Beale had teamed up with Marc Polmans to win the ATP Challenger doubles title. He had defeated Fancutt in the semis when Fancutt partnered Maxime Janvier from France. Fancutt and Beale had teamed up in the Darwin and Brisbane ITF Futures events to win back-to-back titles at the $25,000 level.
Hoyt is an accomplished doubles player having won several ITF titles in 2018. Wu, on the other hand, has only won three doubles matches in 2018 before making the title run with Hoyt. Wu is ranked at no. 1442.

The final was fast paced with big serving especially from Beale and Wu. The opening tiebreak could have gone either way before Hoyt and Wu claimed it. Beale played some good shots in the second set to get a key break to help take the second set. Then it came down to the match tiebreaker and the new team was able to come out on top.

In the women’s final we saw the no. 1 seed Arina Rodionova and Ellen Perez against the no. 3 seed Destanee Aiava and Naiktha Bains. Rodionova and Perez came into the tournament after having won the Bendigo $60,000 title last weekend and having defeated their finals opponents in the semis last week. The top sees had also won titles at the $60k level in Granby, Canada, and Landisville, USA.
In the first set it was Aiva and Bains that took advantage of a few loose points from their opponents in the tiebreaker. After that Perez and Rodionova came storming back to take the second set. The title was then decided in the match tiebreak.
The final score was 6-7(5), 6-3, 10-7.
