Nick Kyrgios and Alex de Minaur had won their singles matches for the second time to take Australia in to the Davis Cup quarterfinals where they will face Canada.
Yesterday Australia defeated Colombia 3-0 which included an impressive doubles win by John Peers and Jordan Thompson after coming back from 6-2 down in the deciding tie-breaker against the top doubles team.
Against Belgium it was Kyrgios that got Australia off to a good start when he defeated Steve Darcis 6-2, 7-6. Kyrios’ serve was red hot late in the second set as he fired down Ace after Ace with six in a row at one stage.
de Minaur came out red-hot against David Goffin taking the first set 6-0. The second set saw de Minaur serving for the match at 5-4 before Goffin fought back to jump to 6-5 and he held set points against de Minaur’s serve.
The match went to a tie-break and it was the Australian that came out on top to seal the win and take Australia to the quarterfinals.
